Today, me and two other adults escorted eight excited Brownie Scout girls in our troop (three of our girls couldn't attend) to our first day-camp outing...Brownie Magic. It was, well, magical! The girls enjoyed six hours of an activity packed day at a Girl Scout camp about 30 miles south of Houston ... near a lovely body of water. The weather cooperated, which added to our blissful day!
There were over 150 Brownies who participated, they broke us down into groups and we rotated where we went. It was very organized, which made it easy for the adults! As soon as we got there, the girls began "swaping" - 'member those crafts we made, the bug pins?? We probably needed triple what we made... it was fun though and the swaps our girls got were very creative!
First the girls made a craft...two beaded keychains - this is one of Jade's ...

Next, they participated with the GS Drill Team... the Green Starlettes... this was one of the highlights of the program for our girls. The drill team demonstrated the drill they perform in parades and other events, then taught the Brownies the moves. Each one of the girls said they wanted to be a Starlette when they get older (you have to be in 6th grade).

This was Jade's buddy!

Posing for a picture before lunch...

The girls participated in a science experiment after lunch and watched a "volcano" made of cola and mentos!

Then we went to a puppet event. The puppeteers were Girl Scouts ... after watching a performance, our girls were able to sing songs with their puppets.

In between sessions, the girls gravitated to these swings... can't say I blame 'em!

The girls learned songs and played games in the pavillion... they really liked this activity too!

Our mugs ...

Can't wait to go again next year!!
